The young Alessandro Sanetti and Chiara Bidoli, respectively president and vice president of the Mruv project (Multipurpose research universities vessels) association – www.mruv.eu – have recently presented their innovative marine project to the city of Venice. Their project aims to make the Venice arsenal the heart of a research center, to support a futuristic multi-role research ship designed to operate in the Mediterranean.
The “mission profile” includes five main areas: Ecosystems, Fishing, Oceanography, Geophysics, Maritime, and Underwater Archeology.
The ship will be a shared tool designed to study our Sea and collect data, making marine research more effective with lower costs.
At the basis’ project stands a growing European network open to Italian and European research institutions, universities, and companies: sustainable and innovative, the MRUV project aims to foster cooperation between the academic and industrial worlds, facilitating the transfer of technologies and knowledge between the two, for the benefit of society.
The preliminary engineering design of the research vessel, developed in collaboration with the professors of the University of Triste, has been completed.
At the same time, the research center at Venice’s Arsenal is taking shape in the teaching laboratories of the IUAV University of Venice.
The next project stage is already on: to find space among the new funds allocated by the PNRR, the MRUV plans to involve national research centers and universities as stakeholders.
It means an unique and unrepeatable opportunity for Italy and Venice: to invest in scientific research, placing our country back at the center of European equilibrium.
